During a couples intensive, people tend to have lots of questions. It is completely normal to have lots of questions. You will have the option of scheduling 10 hours or 14 hours. The 10 hour intensive is scheduled on a Friday/Saturday, while the 14 hour intensive is scheduled Friday/Saturday/Sunday. How do you know which one to chose? Honestly, it is up to you. If there is one major issue that you would like to work on, then I would schedule the former. If you have two important topics to explore, I would probably chose the later. Below are some additional considerations that people tend to be the most curious about.
What to expect:
Work with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is an Emotionally Focused Therapist, Story-Informed Trauma Therapist, as well as EMDR and Sandtray-Trained
This is therapy and not a workshop or class
Big emotions and deep processing are likely to occur
Address crisis issues and previous therapeutic blocks
Combination of (mostly) couples and individual sessions
Breaks will be taken to meet biological needs
Longer break will be prescheduled for lunch/grounding needs
No other couples will be present; one-on-one assistance
Follow-up instructions are provided
Once contract has been signed and fee paid, a welcome letter with additional tips will be provided
Risks & Considerations:
It can be hard to invest an entire weekend
I do not provide childcare
It's a lot of money up front
Most insurance companies will not reimburse clients
Big emotions and deep processing are likely to occur
We cannot resolve everything
Not appropriate for relationships where one partner is afraid for their safety because of the other partner, active Substance Abuse, active affairs, one partner has chosen to end the relationship
